Our Designer’s Top Picks: Chloe Charteris
Marabese Showroom: Milton Keynes
For our next few blogs, we’ll focus on some of our designer’s favourite bathroom and kitchen redesigns. We’ll start off with Chloe Charteris, who specialises in creating stylish and individual kitchens.
Chloe has worked for 12 years in Kitchen Distribution/Sales and nearly a year and a half as a Kitchen Designer for Marabese. She is based in the Milton Keynes showroom in Wolverton, where she has already designed and completed over 24 kitchens!
She has chosen her own kitchen as her favourite installation, proving that we use our own products and the fitters whom we recommend! 'Daniell & Childs Bathrooms & Kitchens' skillfully fitted this custom-designed kitchen.
Here, Chloe explains the ins and outs of her kitchen refit:
My favourite installation is a kitchen in Newport Pagnell that happens to be my own! This proved more challenging as I was the customer as well as the designer.
From start to finish, the whole installation took 7 days. We had budgeted for anything under £10,000 as we are looking to move house and the kitchen needed some desperate TLC.
Our floor was covered in old ceramic tiles; we definitely wanted to remove those! The ceiling was skimmed over and we had a beautiful new light fitted.
There was a small wall in the kitchen that housed the old hot air heating. The fitters knocked this down for us, but it left the main gas pipe visible in the room, so this had to be redirected. The old wall tiles were removed and the walls made smooth and decorated. Knocking down this wall meant that we could fit an integrated fridge/freezer and a tall larder cupboard. The extra storage is always helpful!
When the old units were taken out, it was discovered that the pipework behind the sink and washing machine needed to be changed. The fitters also chased the pipe into the wall which meant my washing machine is now sat back in line with the base units, making the kitchen look much neater and tidier.
We used the shaker style Crown Lifestyle Gala Grey kitchen. The grey gave the kitchen a current and neutral feel whilst the design of the Gala units kept the area looking traditional and homely.
On the floor we opted for the ABK Dolphin Moon tiles in a 20 x 120cm plank. These are a rustic-looking wood effect tile, which is lovely against the tone of our units and worktops - they really complement each other! For the wall, we have Verona Sage Green brick tiles that really keep with the neutral and calming colours of the rest of the kitchen.
Chloe has put her own stamp on plenty of kitchens in the Milton Keynes area... but she's keen to add many more to her collection!
